A fortieth wedding anniversary celebration at Highclere Castle with a brief that the evening should follow an elegant theme of “black tie with a touch of Downton”.
On a beautiful balmy summer’s evening, the delicate sounds of a strings orchestra could be heard in the stunning walled garden played by the students of the Royal Academy of Music who wowed guests with their wonderful repertoire. It was such a magical opening to a very special evening for our client. Mr Carson, aka Jim Carter made a surprise appearance and led everyone back to the Castle through the formal herbaceous gardens and wild flower meadows as they enjoyed homemade ice creams and plenty of Downton gossip!
Following a champagne reception on the front lawn, guests made their way through the opulent reception rooms arriving at the library which was transformed to become the dining room for the evening. The delicious dinner included guinea fowl and wines from the client’s cellar in France and a hilarious interlude with Mr Carson recounting his stories of “life on set at Downton Abbey”! After the speeches, guests were invited to the Highclere dining room for a magnificent display of patisseries, choux pastries and puddings which went down a storm with hardly any left for Team Addo to check they were up to scratch!
The styling for the evening was created with large urns of cascading flowers in the entrance hall and on the patisserie table. In the library we used beautiful central lamps on the tables to create soft lighting and complemented them with votives of candles, delicate posies of flowers and elegant linens in soft grey.
It was a wonderful party to celebrate forty years of marriage for a very special couple who later told us: The whole experience of organising our 40th wedding anniversary has been a delight. I have, as you know organised all our events myself in the past and like great attention to detail for each and every one of our guests. I was able to absolutely relax and you made it all happen. I could not have had a better team to delegate to. The ideas, the research, the follow up in minute detail of every aspect of an event that had so many moving parts could not have been better. Everything so well organised and followed through just to make quite sure. I am thrilled, my husband is thrilled and with our guests, we all had the most wonderful time. So, thank you both. I can’ t wait for the opportunity of asking you to organise another event for us.
