When a client comes to you wanting a party in St Tropez for sixty of their nearest and dearest to celebrate a milestone birthday, the team at Addo HQ get a little bit excited. Planning any event involves meticulous organisation but an event abroad involves a slight element of the unknown. The challenge was accepted and team Addo flew for a site visit to the beautiful and sleepy hillside village just outside St Tropez where we were not sure if the locals knew what was about to hit them!
Every Addo event is unique and it is so important that the client’s personality shines through. This gorgeous lady was born in the sixties and has a bit of a reputation as a party animal along with a love of a gin or two, so from here, the theme “poolside gossip” was born! Imagine sipping cocktails with the favourite people in your life sitting around a bright blue pool in a stunning setting whilst putting the world to rights and you will see where this party was headed.
Working alongside French suppliers was a fun experience with their pleasurable way of life and work most entertaining. Their day starts at nine with endless cups of strong coffee, lunch at midday for exactly two hours and it’s hit and miss if they make it back to the office in the afternoon. We soon learnt that working in the mornings were the way forward, not team Addo’s strongest point, nor is French for that matter and some hilarious bilingual conversations were overheard in the office during the planning process.
Roll on months of organisation and a long road trip and the guests arrived in the South of France for two weeks of fun, frivolity, sun and laughter. Personalised goodie bags met them on arrival with lots of ideas of things to do during their stay which included boat rides, wine tasting, olive grove tours and restaurant sampling. Combine that with waking every morning to blue skies, beautiful views and the smell of Cypress trees, who could want for more?
Well actually there was a bit more because the birthday girl requested a special evening to really celebrate her birthday and thank all her friends and family so what better than a themed night of “St Tropez Chic”. Peonies, sweet peas and stocks were flown in from Holland, admittedly slight madness but easier and cheaper to organise than buying locally. The gardens were adorned with pretty lights and the occasional personalised candle or two (an Addo favourite) and drinks were served around the pool with the Bombay cocktails and personalised stirrers going down a storm. The centrepiece for the evening was the beautiful table set amongst the trees in the gardens with plenty of special touches such as the miniature gin bottles and personalised shot glasses doubling up as presents as well as name places. The surprise at the end of the evening was when the Chateaux turned into a nightclub, complete with lots of sparkle.
